HOW TO STAY SAFE WHEN DRIVING INTO THE SUN
A motor vehicle accident can be caused by many things, including weather conditions. As a driver, you need to be prepared for anything that comes your way. For example, there are times of the day when the sun shines bright. If you aren’t prepared for this, it could increase the odds of being involved in an accident.
There are several steps you can take to remain safe when driving into the sun. Consider the following:
— Wear a high quality pair of polarized sunglasses. This is the best thing you can do to reduce glare.
— Make full use of your sun visor.
— Don’t tailgate the vehicle in front of you. Since you may need extra time to stop, leave plenty of following distance.
— Turn on your headlights. This may sound like a bad idea when it’s bright outside, but it actually makes it easier for other drivers to see you.
— Clean your windshield often, as debris can make it even more difficult to see.
There’s no denying the fact that hitting the road on a bright, sunny day can be enjoyable. However, this can take a turn for the worse if sun glare begins to put you at risk of an accident.
When you are prepared for driving into the sun, you lower your chance of causing an accident. But remember this: other drivers may not take the same approach. For this reason, it’s possible that another person could cause an accident. If you’re involved, remove your car from traffic and contact the authorities. Then consider how to proceed with a claim for any injuries or damages. An attorney can help.
