ACCIDENT VICTIM RUSHED TO THE HOSPITAL AFTER CRASH INTO POLE

Michael Golden Law Corporation Nov. 1, 2016

Crashes on British Columbia roads are not uncommon, and the causes are varied. However, whether a car accident was caused by another person’s negligence or distracted driving, the injured victims may suffer life-long consequences — both financial and emotional. Sometimes, driver negligence may cause an accident, and one such incident recently wrecked a car and sent an accident victim to a hospital.

A crash report indicates that a 67-year-old driver was travelling north on the Island Highway on a recent Sunday evening. As he entered an intersection, another car allegedly turned onto the highway from another road. This driver turned directly into the path of the northbound driver, causing him to swerve to avoid a collision.

The evasive action caused the driver to lose control of his vehicle. His car left the roadway and smashed into a utility pole. This driver and his wife — who was his passenger — were not seriously injured. However, his wife’s condition deteriorated, and she had to be rushed to a hospital. No mention was made of the other driver, and it is not clear if he or she remained at the crash scene.

Although any injured car accident victim may pursue recovery of damages sustained, this case may turn out to be complicated. The help of an experienced British Columbia personal injury lawyer might be invaluable. Before a court can consider any documented claims for financial relief, negligence must be established. The skills of a seasoned lawyer, along with law enforcement investigators, may be helpful in locating and identifying a missing driver who is deemed responsible. With the support and guidance of legal counsel, a monetary judgment may be obtained to cover financial and emotional damages.
