2-VEHICLE CRASH IN BRITISH COLUMBIA KILLS 1, INJURES 4

Michael Golden Law Corporation June 13, 2014

A two-vehicle accident near Kamloops claimed one life and caused four other people to suffer injuries. The accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on June 9 on Highway 5 near the Rayleigh ball fields. A man was driving alone in a northbound red and white pickup truck at the same time that a blue pickup truck was heading in the opposite direction carrying a driver and three passengers.

According to reports, the driver of the blue pickup crossed over the centre line and collided with the red and white pickup, killing its driver. The deceased man’s truck ended up in a ditch adjacent to the road. Debris from the blue pickup was scattered on the road. Four ambulances were called to the scene, and all occupants of the blue pickup were hospitalized. One of the occupants suffered serious injuries, and the other three suffered injuries that were not life threatening.

Alternating lanes were closed to traffic for several hours following the accident. Authorities are investigating the crash but have not said what caused the driver of the blue pickup to cross the centre line. It is not believed that drug or alcohol use was involved. It was not reported if there was a possibility of the blue pickup having been using a cellphone or being otherwise distracted.

An accident victim often suffers pain and may experience financial loss, especially if injuries prevent the victim from returning to work. When a person suffers injuries in a car accident caused by a negligent driver, it is sometimes possible for that individual to file a claim and seek compensation for damages. If a car accident results in death, the victim’s family could consider filing a wrongful death claim.
